Our Center

Your Western Washington University Small Business Development Center: National, regional and state-wide resources, delivered locally – confidentially.

The Western SBDC brings a consortium of business development resources to your community. These assets are delivered to you through one-on-one counseling with our certified business advisors, our popular and proven training events and our best-in-class small business market and strategy research.

National

Coffee shop owner

Nationally, Western works with the US Small Business Administration, or SBA, where we get a portion of the funding we need to deliver these services to you. We work closely with the Region X office of the SBA out of Seattle to bring the latest updates on SBA programs to the communities we serve.

Western is also a member of America’s Small Business Development Centers or ASBDC. This relationship gives access to SBDCnet, a national business research resource providing invaluable and insightful data for our business communities.

State-Wide

As a member in good standing of the Washington Small Business Development Center Network, we connect our clients with subject matter experts across the state for in-depth advising on diverse topics like exporting, technology commercialization and craft distilling.

Your Western SBDC team also works closely with State agencies like Labor and Industries, Department of Commerce and Department of Revenue to help local businesses get the answers they need for program participation and compliance.

Mission

We are a network of professionals providing insight and solutions for the long-term success of businesses.

Vision

Together, the passionate, committed people of the Washington SBDC will set the standard for responsive, relevant guidance to help entrepreneurs translate their vision into long-term success. As an engaged partner in the small business community, we energize Washington’s economic engine for sustainable growth.

Local

Here at home, Western partners with city, county, and port authority leaders, local business organizations and advocacy associations to maintain a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem.

For nearly four decades, our most important relationship is with you, our clients. Your Western SBDC takes great pride in our close relationships with you, our business advising clients. Not a client yet? Please continue to explore our website – we can’t wait to meet you!

I would encourage any business owner even if they’re new to business or have been in business for fifteen years to talk to them because they are a wonderful resource here.

Owner, Heating Green

"My biggest business concern was 'how to run a business'. I had little prior business experience before starting Custom Closets and Bedrooms. Someone at a business round table meeting suggested I contact the SBDC. So I did. For the past 15 years I have met with an advisor about once a month to discuss everything and anything to do with my business. I love that it is a free service and they cover every part of business; from planning, running and expanding. All of the people at SBDC are friendly, polite, accommodating and helpful."
